Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music of The College of Communication and Fine Arts
The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music offers B.M., M.Mu., D.M.A, and Ph.D. degrees in music. Students may focus upon music business and recording technology, composition, jazz and studio composition/arranging, jazz and studio performance, music history, performance, sacred music, school music, music education, pedagogy, and performance, among others. The Music School is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. It is one of 52 doctoral programs accredited by the association. The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music is the only comprehensive doctoral degree granting music school in Tennessee and within a 300-mile radius. Faculty members come from more than 5 countries and their travel, performance, and scholarly work extend throughout the world. Faculty activities and awards have ranged from Carnegie Hall to the Grammys, from Turkey, Poland, Germany, and Austria to New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, and Japan.
