Academic Departments of The College of Communication and Fine Arts
The College of Communication and Fine Arts consists of the Art, Communication, Journalism, and Theatre and Dance departments as well as the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music. In addition, the College also houses the Art Museum of the University of Memphis and the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archeology. Approximately 2,000 students are enrolled in the graduate and undergraduate programs offered by the College. Students completing degrees in this college are from different parts of the world ranging from China and Germany to Kuwait and Russia. The undergraduate degrees offered in this College are well grounded in the liberal arts and provide educational opportunities for nearly 1800 students. The graduate programs emphasize research, scholarship, artistic performance, and production. Currently, there are approximately 260 graduate students. Both, undergraduate and graduate students work closely with faculty in exploring, creating, performing, and preparing for careers in their chosen profession. The College of Communication and Fine Arts has 112 full time faculty members that have traveled the world, been recognized in their respective areas of research, and have received prestigious awards.
