Union Planters / Benjamin W. Rawlins Meritorious Faculty Award
Union Planters / Benjamin W. Rawlins Meritorious Faculty Award |
This named professorship will be awarded to at least one professor next year and carries with it an $8,000 per year stipend for a term of two years. Members of the College faculty or departmental, school, or College administration should nominate a faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in teaching, scholarship, service, and outreach. Letter of nomination, accompanied by a current vita of the nominee, should be sent to Dean Ranta by January 27, 2006. Dr. Ranta will form an advisory panel composed of faculty members and representatives of Union Planters Bank to assist in the selection of the recipient(s). The awardee/s will submit yearly written reports of their activities and present results of these activities in a seminar open to members of the College, University and public. The $8,000 stipend may be used for not only salary, but also travel, supplies or other expenses in any proportion the awardee may choose. The stipend will not be used for the basis of any salary increases. Upon relinquishing the professorship, the salary will revert to the professor's base salary, including any normal salary increases provided during the time of the award. This is an excellent opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of fellow faculty members. Dr. Ranta strongly encourages all faculty to nominate one of your colleagues for this prestigious named professorship.
